New Facebook Plugin for WordPress
16% of the web is powered by WordPress. Facebook wants to tap that demographic in a continuation of their quest to spread their fingers into all corners of the internet. To that end, they have just released an official WordPress plugin. This is pretty exciting news for bloggers and social media managers across the world, as the inevitable new blog post update on Facebook just got a lot easier.
The plugin will allow for the author to easily link to their blog post on their personal Facebook or brand page, include a description, and tag friends in the post as well.
That’s not all. There are some additional options: there is the ability to add an activity feed to show what people’s friends have been reading on your WordPress site (similar to the much-disliked social reader function that The Washington Post or The Guardian uses); Like, Subscribe, and Send buttons that are fully customizable; and a Facebook comment box that works in a similar way to already-existing third-party plugins. The best of these additional options is a plugin that recommends new and interesting articles and pages to readers, which can only be a great way to further spread the word about your blog or website.
